I've realized (belatedly) that I’ve never actually posted what my book is about on this blog. In my defense, I have a very good reason for not doing so…

…I haven’t written a blurb.

I know what my book is about. My beta readers know what my book is about. At this point, I’m sure that everyone in my life knows what my book is about, because I talk about it non-stop.

But I’ve never updated y’all on what it’s about.

Rather than write a blurb, I’m just gonna throw some words at the wall and see what sticks.

Princess. Rebel. Diametric opposition. Star-crossed. Betrayal by friend. Begrudging allies. First love. First kiss. Toxic family drama. Family drama that hurts a kingdom. Old grudges. Old prejudices. New friends. Mostly importantly, magic.

In hindsight, that was a horrible way to describe my book. Again, I still haven’t written a blurb. The best I’ve got right now is a terrible, terrible, terrible single line description. Are you ready for it?

A princess joins a rebellion to topple her father’s rule.

Where’s the flavor? Where’s the nuance? Where’s the mention that she falls for the rebel that invites her in? Where’s the tension between her, and someone she thought was a friend? Where’s the resentment towards living in her sister’s shadow?

I hate single line descriptions. They make it sound so boring.

Anyways, I’ll be spending Nano November writing the sequel (and working on my query package). Keep an eye out for an update regarding my novel, including a speculative title announcement and blurb around that time.

(For what it’s worth, the title is a heck of a lot better than the single line summary. I giggle every time I think about it.)
